Opie Gets a Whoopin'

From the Washington Times:

Fox News journalist Chris Wallace on Monday evening defended President Bush against criticism by Hollywood filmmaker Ron Howard that the president has abused his office in a way similar to President Richard Nixon. "Richard Nixon's crimes were committed purely in the interest of his own political gain," Mr. Wallace told Mr. Howard before an audience of a few hundred after viewing the filmmakers new film "Frost/Nixon," which is about the only U.S. president to resign from office. "I think to compare what Nixon did, and the abuses of power for pure political self preservation, to George W. Bush trying to protect this country — even if you disagree with rendition or water boarding — it seems to me is both a gross misreading of history both then and now," Mr. Wallace said. Mr. Wallace was a member of the audience at a special preview screening of "Frost/Nixon," which depicts the process that led to the disgraced presidents confession of failure.

Chris ain't nothin' like his "paw", that's for sure.

Say WHAT?

Sebastian D'Souza, a picture editor at the Mumbai Mirror, who had initially hidden in a train car at the Chhatrapati Shivaji train station:

"There were armed policemen hiding all around the station but none of them did anything... At one point, I ran up to them and told them to use their weapons. I said, 'Shoot them, they're sitting ducks!' but they just didn't shoot back.... I told some policemen the gunmen had moved towards the rear of the station but they refused to follow them. What is the point if having policemen with guns if they refuse to use them? I only wish I had a gun rather than a camera."

I understand the citizens of Mumbai are pissed. Wouldn't you be?

UPDATE -- 1:23 PM

THIS guy thinks he's figured-it-out. Well, maybe. And this from the Comments to his post, from some clueless dork calling himself "tehag":

The photographer apparently had nerve and bravery in excess. The police officer had a gun. Why didn’t the photographer ask to borrow the gun? Because his job of taking photos was more important to him than other people’s lives. And so a man who could act did nothing while the men whose job it was to react did… nothing. No ‘let’s roll’ here.

$10,000 says this wingnut voted for you-know-who.
